Fleetwood Yacht Club has long been part of the town’s strong maritime tradition, based within Fleetwood Marina on the River Wyre. The club was formed to bring together local sailors and boating enthusiasts, providing a welcoming space for both cruising and racing in the Irish Sea and surrounding waters.

As Fleetwood itself evolved from a major fishing and commercial port into a modern leisure waterfront, the yacht club helped keep sailing activity at the heart of the town’s identity. Over the years, it has supported generations of members with a shared interest in being on the water, whether through organised racing, informal cruising, or social sailing.

Today, the club continues to operate as a friendly and inclusive community for boaters of all experience levels. It remains closely connected to Fleetwood Marina and plays an active role in encouraging participation on the water, from local events and regattas to relaxed sailing throughout the season.
